When You Make an Inquiry

When you contact Megan Reed Pet Services or request a quote, we may collect information such as:

* Information about your pets, including their names, species, ages, routines, medical needs, and medications

* Information needed to contact you while you are away

When You Become a Client

Providing in-home pet care requires us to understand not only your pets’ routines, but also how to safely access and care for your home while you are away.

Depending on the services you request, we may collect:

* Home-access information, such as door codes, lockbox combinations, garage or keypad codes, key instructions, or the location of a physical key

* Wi-Fi network information, if you choose to provide it

* Information about security cameras or monitoring systems in your home, including their general locations

* The dates you expect to be away

* Your veterinarian’s contact information

* Emergency contact information

* Information about other individuals who may enter or have access to your home while we are providing care

* Additional household or pet-care instructions reasonably necessary to provide the services you request

We recognize that some of this information is particularly sensitive and treat it accordingly.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

* Provide and coordinate pet-care services

* Communicate with you regarding inquiries, bookings, scheduling, updates, invoices, and your pets’ care

* Safely access your home when necessary to provide scheduled services

* Respond appropriately in the event of a pet or household emergency

* Process and maintain business and payment records

* Operate, maintain, and secure our business systems

* Meet applicable legal, tax, insurance, and business obligations

We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for their own advertising purposes.

How We Protect Your Information

Because our work may require clients to trust us with information about their homes and access to their property, we take the security of that information seriously.

Home-access codes stored within our secure client-management system are encrypted. They are not stored as readable plain text and are only accessible through authorized accounts.

Alarm codes are not stored within our client-management system. If an alarm code is necessary to provide your services, it is handled separately from the client information stored within that system.

Access to client information is logged within our system so that authorized access can be associated with the individual account accessing the information.

Accounts with access to protected client information require two-step authentication in addition to a password.

Access to your information is limited to authorized individuals and is used only when reasonably necessary to provide care, operate and secure our systems, or meet legal and business obligations.

While no electronic system or method of storing information can be guaranteed to be completely secure, we use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect the information entrusted to us.

Payment and Card Information

Payments are securely processed through Square.

Megan Reed Pet Services does not see or store your complete credit or debit card number. Payment information entered online is transmitted directly to Square for processing.

If you choose to keep a payment method on file for future services, the applicable card information is stored and managed by Square rather than Megan Reed Pet Services.

When We May Share Information

We limit the sharing of client information to circumstances reasonably necessary to provide our services, operate our business, protect our clients and their pets, or comply with applicable law.

Information may be shared with:

* Authorized Megan Reed Pet Services team members who need the information to provide care for your pets or home

* Your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary hospital when reasonably necessary for your pet’s care

* Your designated emergency contact when appropriate

* Trusted service providers that help us operate our business, such as payment processors, website hosting providers, communication services, and technology providers, to the extent reasonably necessary for them to provide those services

* Government agencies, law enforcement, courts, insurers, or other parties when disclosure is required or permitted by applicable law or reasonably necessary to protect legal rights, safety, property, our clients, or their pets

We do not sell client information.

Website Information

When you visit our website, certain technical information may be collected automatically by our website or the services used to operate it.
